Ehovoc’s solution lowers emissions treatment costs to one-tenth
Ehovoc Oy is an international environmental technology provider that focuses on treatment of VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) gases. Ehovoc is an excellent example of the working Cleantech-innovation, since the solution that they offer to companies combines clean technologies with cost savings in a very concrete way.
Rettig Lämpö Oy, a customer of Ehovoc which manufactures radiators and central heating furnaces, replaced its ten-year-old thermal incinerator in November 2007 with Ehovoc’s catalytic oxidizers.
"With the help of Ehovoc’s technology, the new unit functions at a temperature about 500 degrees lower. Thanks to this change, the unit’s operating costs dropped from about a thousand to less than a hundred euros per day. According to the customer, the investment paid for itself in less than a year", explains Ville Silvonen, Managing Director of Ehovoc Oy.
Huge potential for growth
For over 10 years, Ehovoc has developed and supplied catalytic VOC-gas treatment systems to many international companies all over Europe. VOC-gases, toxic to humans and to the environment, are hydrocarbons whose adverse and external temperature effects are twelvefold compared with carbon dioxide. An EU directive specifies limits on VOC emissions in European Union territory.
"Compared with competing technologies, our solution to VOC-gases is state-of-the-art. It saves energy, so it lowers our client companies’ expenses in emissions treatment. In European territory there are tens, if not hundreds, of companies carrying out the exact same painting processes." Our solution is also suitable for all fields of industry that use solvents, paints and other hydrocarbon compounds. So there is a huge potential for growth, observes Silvonen.
Customers of Ehovoc include Tikkurila (paint industry), Pirelli (tire industry), Panasonic (consumer electronics), Ekokem (soil decontamination) and Fermion Oy (pharmaceutical industry).
