The common denominator in all Outotec's technologies is their ability to save energy, natural resources or capital investment, frequently all three at the same time. The environmental solutions are integrated in Outotec's processes rather than being add-on features.
According to OECD definitions, 63 percent of Outotec's technologies can be classified as Environmental Goods and Services (EGS) and, depending on the application, further 33 percent also fall into this category. In 2008, Outotec's internal study showed that 70 percent of the company's order intake consisted of EGS.
Outotec has many pioneering technologies that help cut down water, energy and raw material consumption and reduce the amounts of emissions and waste. Some of the technologies originally developed for the mining and metals industry can also be applied in the chemical industry, in the energy sector and in industrial water treatment.
