Kenno Tech

Material-efficient steel elements save up to 50 percent steel. Kenno Tech specializes in laser-welded sandwich structures which are light and stiff – typically providing a 30-50 % saving in weight and material compared to traditional welded steel structures. Due to reduction in weight, further savings may be achieved in support structures, operating mechanisms and operating economics. Laser welding causes minimal distortion and thus enables good tolerance fit. Improved material efficiency reduces the adverse environmental impact of steel structures.

Steel sandwich elements have a wide variety of applications. For example Kenno Tech manufactures floor elements for KONE Plc.’s heavy goods elevators or vehicle elevators. A 1000 kg weight saving was achieved compared to a conventional welded structure; the payload of the elevator was thus increased from 4 tonnes to 5 tonnes. The weight saving also allowed the use of a lighter counter weight. Kenno Tech offers comprehensive design, production and technology services for laser welded, all-metal sandwich elements. Our production facility is at Riihimäki, 70 km north of Helsinki.
