Electric Vehicles - A smart transport solution for the future
Living in a metro city, oh yes, what a great feeling! You can have all modern amenities, faster lifestyle, entertainment, various food etc. Big cities attract people as they seek better opportunities and high living standards.
However, all great things come with challenges. More people mean more demand for transport, and more emissions and noise posing various health problems. Smog in the air reduces visibility especially in the winter months.
The world's oil reserves are limited, and costlier day by day. It appears that the current system will not be economical and sustainable.
Electric cars are the most well-developed alternative technology we have right now. EVs (electric vehicles) are considered emission and noise-free vehicles. Efficiency of electric vehicles is significantly better than efficiency of vehicles with combustion engine: energy cost is clearly lower than with liquid fuel. EV technology reduces our dependency on oil.
EVs make sense in urban cities today as the vehicles move on slow speed on congested roads for short distance. Mid-size electric buses, cars, three-wheelers and electric scooters can be ideal for city mobility but it can take few more years before they become commercially sustainable.
Electric cars are continuously improving. All major global car manufacturers are planning to launch fully electric cars onto the market by 2014. Further subsidies for supporting the mass deployment of electric vehicles will significantly reduce the consumption of petroleum, and other high CO2-emitting transportation fuels.
The more EVs on road, the more charging stations we need (approx. 2-5 per car). Every investment in electric vehicle charging means taking responsibility for a more sustainable development. Ensto, the technology-driven company, is manufacturing advanced charging posts, and developing next-generation charging posts.
The charging posts can be all over the city where you park the cars: at homes, workplaces, car parks, curb sides, parking areas, shopping centers, railway stations etc.
I am sure that penetration of EVs will be increased in future with faster charging posts and advanced battery technology which in turn help us to make our environment clean and pollution-free.
